Yahweh gives wisdom, knowledge and understanding. When we look to him and his words we gain the highest knowledge, the deepest understanding and the most profound wisdom. Consider the lives of those who do not seek the Lord, who embrace the wisdom of the world around them. Their lives have limited purpose, limited love, limited good. When we abide in the Lord we gain wisdom that the world cannot understand because we follow the upside-down ideas of God’s kingdom. Nations and individuals pursue power – military, political, economic, cultural – and rejoice when their power grows. But Yahweh rejoices in something completely different; something that is available to everyone no matter how powerless they are. Yahweh rejoices in us if we fear him, revere and respect him. He rejoices when our hope is in his love for us, that he will ultimately bless us and dwell with us forever.
