Weekly Word Of Encouragement – Everyone Gets To Play

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” I Cor 12:7 (NLT) How fantastic is this? Everyone in the Lord has a spiritual gift that allows them to help others. This is one of the great leveling passages in scripture. Wealth, status, title and influence do not help someone be more gifted. The believer who has none of these has a gift, just as the most prominent believer does. Furthermore, the privileged need the gifts of the less privileged. The strong need the weak, and the successful need the struggling. So always be encouraged that you have a gift, or several gifts, that help others. God does not play favorites – the last shall be first. You are greatly valued by God. P.S. Leaders can multiply the ministry in their fellowships just by making it a top priority to discover spiritual gifts and deploying Continue Reading →

Weekly Word Of Encouragement – Fellowship With The Blood & Body Of Christ

“Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?” I Cor 10:16 (NIV) “Participation” in this verse is the same word that is translated “fellowship” in other places. Thus, we have fellowship with the blood and body of Christ. Obviously, this is a mysterious experience but it is no less real because we don’t know the details. How encouraging is it that we fellowship intimately with Christ in the Lord’s Supper. In fact, this is an example of healthy biblical mysticism, not an escapist ecstatic mysticism that prioritizes experience over truth and love. Application: pick one or two words from the verse that help you and repeat it to yourself throughout the day or week. Weekly Word Of Encouragement – We Are Holy

“But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” I Cor. 6:11 (NLT) When we believed on Jesus God made us holy. That may seem strange when we see the unholiness in our lives but the key is understanding the “already/not yet” theme in the New Testament. We are already holy, but not yet completely in heart and action. So we can say that we are holy now, for we are saints and we can recline in this truth, even though God is making us more and more pure. Weekly Word Of Encouragement – All Things Are Ours

“All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours” I Cor. 3:21b-22 (NIV) This is one of the most unusual and comprehensive promises in the Bible. Because we have God and because He has us everything is “ours”. Nothing possesses us; we possess everything. The world, true life, victory over death, this present day and all future days belong to us. Application: pick one or two words from the verse that help you and repeat it to yourself throughout the day or week. Weekly Word Of Encouragement – We Are God’s Temple

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” I Cor 3:16 (NIV). We are the dwelling place of God. He is with us and united with us. Thus, we can always live and make choices in that reality, whether we feel it or not. We walk by faith, not by sight.
