“God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Col. 1:27 (NIV) The mystery is that Christ is inside you. Maybe you are used to hearing that Christ is inside you, but if you think about it, you should realize it is a fantastic mystery. How can another person be inside you? If you had no knowledge of Christianity and someone told you that the Son of the infinite God can live inside you, you might think they were crazy.
Yet it is true, and it is a “glorious” treasure! Christ is inside you; he lives in you, with his Holy Spirit. It is impossible to be closer to a person than to have them live inside you, and if you were to choose among all the people who ever lived, you would want Jesus to be the one living inside you. But it gets better. The fact that Christ is inside you is also a guarantee that one day he will glorify your body and soul and bring you into his glorious community, and you will dwell in his presence forever.
You may not always feel that Christ is inside you, but he is. The more we abide in him, the more we are aware that he is living in and through us. If we neglect him, then this awareness will fade.
How often do you realize that Christ is inside you? Since this is true, do you have to strive to get him close to you? Where do you need to look to see Jesus? How can you enhance your awareness of Jesus inside you?
