He Is Among Us When We Meet – Weekly Words Of Encouragement

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them” (Matt. 18:20 ESV). Jesus is always with us, but he promises that when two or three are gathered in his name he is among us. God loves community and he honors community by promising that God the Son is present in a better way than with a single believer.

Remember that our destiny is to be fruitful members of God’s perfect community of followers on the New Earth. Jesus referred to this as the kingdom of God. God is restoring his image in you so that you can flourish in his community and contribute your gifts and personality. But God’s community does not begin in the next age – it began on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came after Jesus’ resurrection. You are part of that continuous community. Jesus is sad when we neglect his community; he wants us to learn to live in a harmonious community where everyone is built up and burdens are eased. And he is among us, in our community, even when there are only three of us.

This should encourage us to gather together in small groups as well as big groups and have expectant faith that Jesus is really with us and that we can have a stronger connection to him when we are gathered. In small groups we can pray for someone’s need and wait on Jesus. Maybe someone will have an impression or leading from God. Maybe God will give a word through someone. Jesus is there. If we believe and give him some space then we will begin to experience his presence because he is among us.

This is so good ~ so many churches fail to develop New Christians spiritually. As I have won people to the Lord ~ I also meet with them weekly to continue to befriend them, read the Bible with them and pray with them ~ give them a Bible ~ Praying wither ~ encourage them.
This is what Jesus did in his short time on earth. He took 12 men ~ mentored them ~ loved them ~ sit an exposed them to the Holy Spirit.

This is how and why we have Growth in our Spirit today. He wish the same today !
